The DFT SCV is a threaded in-line check valve from DFT's silent-check design family, engineered to close before flow reverses rather than after — which avoids the slam and water-hammer associated with conventional swing check valves.

Silent check valves use a spring-assisted poppet or disc that reseats at the moment of zero flow, making them a common upgrade where check valve slam has caused noise, vibration, or pipe damage on pump discharge lines.
